Image
Media Language And Representation In this post i am going to be researching entertainment magazines and finding out how media language elements are used to create meaning and construct representation that address and appeal to the intended audience. I will be doing this by analysing Magazine layout, typography, use of language and use of images. Also i need to research an website for a magazine company and research the online conventions.  MAIN TASK To conclude, i found that most magazines use the same media language to represent artists in similar ways as each other in order to match the audiences opinion on what genre and conventions they expect to find on a magazine front cover. These include, the main image, which is usually centred in the middle, the mast head, Usually in bold front at the top of the page in the centre and cover lines, usually located on the left or right side of the page. Overall, i found that magazines use similar conventions on their m...

NEA Research Part 3- Intertextuality Research

Image
NEA Research Part 3- Intertextuality Research First Media products chosen:  The Magazine Entertainment Weekly which includes actor Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and an image of Two Face who features in the Batman films. Second Media Products chosen: The Magazine Vanity Fair which includes actor Chris Pratt and the advert for Davidoff Cool Water aftershave which features actor Paul Walker.  ---------------------- MAIN TASK  To conclude, i found that most magazines have some intertextuality link to another media product and this is done through research and designing. Although some media products don't make the link obvious once identified it is easy to see the similar conventions used and how both media products link. Intertextuality is important within media products as it helps the product appeal to the target audience as the readers are already familiar with a similar product.

NEA Research Part 2- Genre Research

NEA Research Part 2- Genre Research In this post i am going to be conducting research into the magazine genre i chose in the brief. The reason i am doing this is to learn the different codes and conventions i need when creating my Entertainment Magazine.  The genre of the text as described in my chosen brief is an entertainment magazine and I'll be looking at the conventions of 3 media products that of the same genre.  ----------------- MAIN TASK To conclude, I found that entertainment magazines follow similar conventions as each other. For example, the mast head is alway placed on the centre of the page in bold in order to stand out. However, Entertainment Weekly place the image infront of the mast head but they have used this convention from the start of production and it has become one of the ways to identify their  magazines. In addition, the person in the main image are always staring directly at the camera and this was evident in all three of th...

NEA BRIEFS

NEA Briefs LEARNING OBJECTIVES K: The requirements for each of the briefs set by OCR. U: How to approach the chosen brief, including writing the statement of intent. BAT: Choose a brief and start planning what to write in the statement of intent. CO: Use media terminology (all areas of the theoretical framework) in your written and verbal communication. I have chosen to pick brief 3 for my coursework. I have always had an interest in photoshop and i want to design the front covers and contents pages of magazines. I have already used photoshop to complete GCSE coursework for media, which has helped develop my photoshopping skills (designing and editing). I would like to develop my creativity skills as for me to choose and create original magazines is out of my comfort zone. I also want to develop my photography skills as it is something i may be interested in the future. However, i am hoping the research i complete and the photoshopping skills i have will...
