My Mood Board

My Mood Board

I have chosen to magazine brief in which i have to create one front cover and contents pages of the first two editions of a new entertainment magazine for Hearst. I require at least a state of intent (500 words),  Entertainment magazine front covers and contents pages (two or three pages for each), a magazine distribution method, one homepage and one linked page for a website and to appeal to a cross media production target audience (16-25).

In this task i am going to be exploring the different types of images, fonts and colour to use to create and construct my magazine front pages and contents pages. By creating this mood board i will learn new creative ways in how to present my magazine. I will also be looking at different connotations and considering how they will effect my target audience.

Magazine Mood Board:

Website Mood Board

  • How did they helped you define content for your products? It has helped me define my products as it has given me a base line structure to use when creating my media products. It gives me an indication about what i need to use and how it will be effective and it gives me a check list in what i am expecting to see on my final media product.
  • What will be your overall colour scheme of your productions? The colour schemes for my magazine is high contrast colours in which i will use red as my most used and dominant cover on my front pages and contents pages. However, for my website i will be using different colours of blue and white as i feel they will look professional on my website.
  • What kind of images/shots would you use in your productions? I want to use a mid shot of an upcoming celebrity who is in a suit, in a high street or city while walking around. I want it to be obvious that is a celebrity who is living a good life.
  • What kind of fonts would you use in your productions? I want to use the font "the champ regular" for both as although simple i believe it is effective and looks professional and would suit both my website and magazine. If i use the same font on both then audiences can relate both fonts together which automatically links to my magazine.
  • What kind of mise-en-scene would you use in your productions? The kind of mise-en-scene i will use is of an upcoming celebrity in a nice outfit carrying lots of bags down the road wearing sunglasses, it is a paparazzi shot of the upcoming celebrity.
  • What kind of intertextuality would you use in your productions? The intertextuality i will use in my production is of a celebrity walking down the road which will link to my main magazine imagine.
  • Which media theory(ies) are you likely to use in your productions? The media theories i will be using in my production is the female gaze by using a male in a suit which will appeal to the female target audience. I will also be using the post modernism theory by creating a hyper reality through the celebrity life style, of a nice clothing and shopping bags.

To conclude, i found that i want my magazine to be explicit on showing that one of my celebrities have a lot of money and this is shown by the nice watch and the suits. However, my original idea has changed as i am no longer taking my pictures in a town centre. i have decided to keep the same mood board so it can change my overall thought pattern and how my first ideas have developed and how i plan to create my media product.
